What is good olive oil?
How should you read an olive oil label, and what do all those numbers mean? Why is the polyphenol concentration one of the most important quality indicators—and why do not all producers list it? Why is one olive oil peppery and sharp, while another is mild? What is the difference between filtered and unfiltered olive oil? Which olive oil is best for cooking?
Greek? Italian? Or perhaps Spanish? Which olive oil is the best?
You’ll get answers to all of these questions (and you can be sure—many more) during our olive oil educational tasting.
During the tasting, we will “blind taste” 4–6 olive oils from different producers, suppliers/regions, and olive varieties. To make it more intriguing, we may also include a different type of oil during the blind tasting to help illustrate differences—for example, how to recognize adulterated oil. Throughout the event, we will not only discuss the oils being tasted but also take a much broader look at olive oils in general.
You will discover the essential differences between oils, learn where those differences come from, and develop your ability to identify and select high-quality olive oil.
The olive oil tastings are led by long-time olive oil researcher and enthusiast Artūras Nečejauskas. For more than 10 years, Artūras has traveled to Greece every harvest season to study the work of various farms and mills and to visit production facilities—personally experiencing the entire olive oil harvesting and pressing process.
The educational tasting is organized for groups of 5 people or more, or €125 total (if the group is smaller). The price is €25 per person when the tasting takes place at our farm. The session can also be held at your chosen location—your company, home, or other venue. If travel to your location is required, an additional fee may apply (depending on time and distance).

We also invite you to bring your favorite or routinely used olive oil—either to the tasting or to our retail locations. We will assess its quality and explain the information on the label. If your oil has no label, we will evaluate it and describe its quality based on blind tasting principles.
This evaluation is free of charge!
